I just installed Starry Night V8, but can't run it simultaneously with V7. Are the two incompatible? That would make it hard to customize V8 to match my V7.

Keiron Smith Hi Ron,
The two versions can be installed side by side, but can not be run at the same time. What is it you want to customize? If you save a SNF file from SN7 and open it in SN8 it will open with all the options you saved in that SN7 file. You can also import SN7 data using the Help -> Import SN7 option.
Thanks!

Ron Blackwell I tried your suggestion of opening an SN7 file in SN8. Only some of the options came across. Font colours for labels did not. Labels for Messier object didn't either. Additions to the time units are also missing as are changes I made to the "Planets" quick search listing. If I want to continue customizing SN8 to match SN7, I'll have to snapshot SN7 screens and make the SN8 changes from them.
I really don't understand why SN8 was designed not to run simultaneously with SN7. SN6 will run with either.

Keiron Smith Hi Ron,
We are aware of the challenge, and need to run the apps side by side at times. I know it is disappointing, but we could not resolve this issue before release. I'll discuss again whether it is something we can bring about it a future update. There is long list of dev priorities ahead of this so even if we can change this the update probably won't come for some time. But, let's see.

Ron Blackwell Hi Keiron,
I waited a long time for some of my problems with SN7 to be fixed via updates but they never were. I ran into the same install problem with SN8 as I had with SN7 (25139), even though it was marked as "solved". SN8 has all the same windows quirks as SN7 - e.g. only being able to open one file at a time - so it really can't do as much in many ways as SN6. From what you just said, those items are low priority and may take a long time to fix. I was hoping to see them in SN8 but now I'm really wondering if I shouldn't just remove SN8 and ask for my upgrade money back.
P.S. I couldn't look at the item you referenced in your latest note: https:
