EQ5 With EQStar GoTo WIFI Not Working Correctly In Sky Safari Pro (Answer: Upgrade To Latest EQStar Firmware 1.9)

Dear all,

I ordered an GoTo upgrade kit EQStar from Astro-gadget.com working with EQMod. I can connect the mount proper via R232 cable with my laptop and can command the mount via Carte Du Solei. All GoTo requests work correctly. Now to my issue. I also have a WIFI dongle which I can attach to my EQStar box. Connecting my mount via WIFI is also no issue and works fine. When I start now Sky Safari Pro or Star Seek, the connection works and the pointer is set at pole. The mount also points to pole. When I start the first GoTo order, the mount starts to move and reaches the selected object but the mount is pointing into a total different direction. I selected in telescope settings Synscan and german equatorial mount. Can you please tell me, where the issue is?

Yours Philipp Schüring from Germany

I have exactly the same issue. When using the Eqmod connection to PC all is working properly but when connected via wifi to Skysafari there is something wrong. It seems that maybe it is not fully compatible, because I'm having also the "can connect to the wifi network but he mount is not responding".
The cause could be the driver itself or some kind of compatibility issue with the Eqstar solution and Skysafari, who knows.

    Hi again.

This issue could be solved upgrading the EqStar firmware to version 1.9.

You can email the maker and ask for it or PM me and I-ll send you a copy,

    Kind regards,

    Adi.
