I have SkySafari 6 Pro, running on MacOS and a CGX mount. With the NextStar hand controller, I can connect, using the USB cable and control the telescope, with no problem. I shut down and switch hand controllers over to the StarSense, do the quick align and wait for the "StarSense Ready" message, plug the USB into the hand controller, and then try to connect and I get the "CONNECTION FAILURE" Pop up.

Keiron Smith Hi Barry,
Please switch you ScopeType setting to "Celestron WiFi"
Thanks!

Barry Ripley But I’m not using WiFi...?

Keiron Smith Hi Barry,
Sorry, StarSense can only be aligned and controlled via SkySafari when using Celestron WiFi.
If you do not have a Celestron WiFi module (aka SkyQLink) then with a USB connection you will have to manually align the StarSense using the hand controller, and then connect with SkySafari.
Thanks!

Barry Ripley Yes, that’s exactly what I am trying to do. I get the mount aligned and ready to go, with the hand controller, and then connect the USB cable. Then select scope, in Sky Safari, and connect but I get the connection error. It all works just fine with NextStarb

Keiron Smith Hi Barry,
Did you ever resolve this?
Thanks!

Barry Ripley No, I haven’t.

Keiron Smith In your initial post you are say "shut down and switch hand controllers over to the StarSense".
Why are you switching hand controllers?
Please try an alignment without switching hand controllers.
- Connect the StarSense hand controller to your CGX mount. Power on the StarSense hand controller and mount.
- Plug the USB from the Macbook into the StarSense hand controller.
- Confirm Scope Type "CGX".
- Confirm Connection "usbserial".
- Align using the StarSense controller.
- Once alignment is complete choose Telescope > "Connect"
If you can connect with the regular Nexstar controller connecting with the StarSense should work just the same way.
However, as said before, switching controllers is not the way to set this up.
Thanks!

Barry Ripley Maybe I was unclear in my original post. I was trying to point out that it was working with NexStar just fine, validating SkySafari, my MacBook, and the mount. I power everything down and switch over to StarSense, align the mount and then connect to SkySafari and try to connect to the mount but I get the error. I will try again, following the instructions you outlined, above. Thanks.
