SkySafari v6 + LX200 GPS | Slewing using onscreen buttons does not stop

On two occasions, while connected with an iPhone 7 using SS v6 and a SkyFi module to a LX200 GPS I used the onscreen slewing buttons to move the scope and the scope would not stop slewing.
Tried:

Exiting &/or force quitting the app.

Selecting an object and then 'go to' that object.

Disconnecting from the SkyFi network &/or turning off the SkyFi

Nothing seems to work to stop it other than turning off the scope.

I saw the earlier, similar post re a SkyWatcher mount, but do not remember if the app 'lost focus' as described in that post, but it is quite likely the case.

Not sure what was happening, but generally if you tap one of the slew button on the hand controller, that will stop a run away slew.

Has this happened more than once?  This is not a common problem in my experience.

This has happened twice, once on each of the two nights I have used SSv6 to control my scope.

I did not document this until several days after the fact, but I am pretty sure I tried using the hand paddle to both slew, and also to select an object and go to it. Nothing worked except turning off the scope. On both occasions it was several hours into the viewing session.

Weather permitting (and it looks good) I will be out next Wed-Fri and will spend time trying to reproduce, debug and document the issue.

I will make sure I add using the hand paddle in several modes (slew, object selection & goto) to the testing.

I have SS6 Pro on my phone and iPad.  On my laptop I have  SS6.2.0 Pro, as well as SS1.8 Pro (!), Starry Night 7.6.5.1515 Pro as well as a few other scope driving apps, so if I can reproduce 'runaway mode' I can try connecting with those apps and see if they can help.

Any other suggestions, or a list of other info that would be helpful to you (i.e. do any of these apps create log files you can use?), are welcome.

On testing, it seems to be an issue with the handpaddle, possible exacerbated by cold (40 degrees or less) weather. My hand paddle has become less and less responsive over the years and multiple mashings of the direction keys eventually worked all three times this recurred. I'm looking into repair/replacement of the hand paddle. Thanks for the suggestion!
