I'm seeing something very strange that I haven't come across. I have an observation of PGC 48114, which is very nearby NGC 5248 that I recently logged in session CSAS DSS - 5/27/19. When you click on the observation and click Show Object Info, it goes to the info for PGC 39200. Further, if I do a manual search for PGC 48114 and do selection > show observations, it shows I have no observations. You'd think I might have somehow clicked the wrong object when I logged it, but when I go to Observe > Observations and click the session, it shows up there as PGC 48114 as it should. When I click on the observation, the header at the very top shows PGC 48114 as well. Any idea what's happening here?

Chris Bill, can you reproduce this?

Bill Tschumy Keiron just forwarded this to me.
I added 48114 to an observing list. Then, with 48114 selected I tapped Selection > Create New Observation. I added some text and attached the observation to the observing list that contained it. After that I'm not seeing anything strange. Observe > Show Observations shows the observation in the session. If I select the object and do Selection > Show Observations, I do see the correct object.
I might have to look at your specific data to see if I can determine what is amiss.
Is the only way you can get to 39200 is when you click the Show Object Info from the Observation screen? In the title of the screen, does it show 48117 or 39200?

Bill Tschumy Also, have you been using LiveSky to work with observations as well? I'm wondering if the two platforms could be resolving the object differently.

Chris When I go to Observations > CSAS DSS 5/27/19, I see PGC 48114. When I click it, the title is PGC 48114, an object which has no observations tied to it if I search it using search or clicking it on the map. I only use LiveSky to look through observations after the fact OR to export observations I created with SkySafari.
This is strange, I got out my tablet since that's what I used to create the observation to begin with, and went to PGC 48114, show observations, and my observation DOES show up there, using SS 6.0.4.34. Then, on my phone, logged in with the same user data, and SS 6.2.0.39, the same step shows no observation. However, if I click PGC 48114 on my phone and create a new observation, it shows up on my phone, but that session and observation don't show up on my Tablet. Is it possible this new version isn't reading sessions and observations correctly?

Bill Tschumy So just to be clear. If you show the observation of PGC 48114, it has "PGC 48114" in the title. However, if you tap "Show Object Info" at the bottom of the observation screen, you get taken to PGC 39200, correct? If so, that is very strange.
Is it possible this new version isn't reading sessions and observations correctly?
I sort of doubt it. Double check that you have internet access and that you haven't disabled "Backup My Data To Cloud Storage" in the Storage settings.

Chris Your first comment is correct.
I do have an internet connection; if I create a session and an observation on my tablet, it immediately uploads and shows on my phone. If I do the same on my phone, it's not showing up on my tablet. Here's a test I did
Create Session on Tablet (Shows up on Phone)
Create Session on Phone (Does not show up on Tablet)
Delete new Session from Tablet (Also deletes from Phone)Because I did this in this order, I've ruled out a connection problem.

Bill Tschumy Is the tablet running the beta I gave you and the phone is not? Otherwise, I can't see any reason why they would be different. The code doesn't distinguish between a phone and a tablet.
Someone else works on the nitty gritty of syncing across devices. It is possible that something has snuck in.
However, I just created a session on an iOS device and then started SkySafari on Android (the same version I gave you recently). It correctly pulled the new session I created on the phone.
Have you tried restarting SkySafari on the tablet just in case it is in some strange state?
-
Chris The phone is using the new beta, the tablet a version several versions back.
-
Bill Tschumy That seems pretty strange. It seems there are two possible problems you are seeing.
1. The observation for 48114 takes you to 39200 when you Show Info from the observation screen. I can't see how that is remotely possible.
2. The shipping app is not syncing a session you created on the new app.
For #2, do you see the new session on LiveSky?
Have you tried rebooting both devices?
