3D binary stars, moons, satellites, etc not rendering (SNP 8.0.2, Win 10, May 2019 release)

Upgraded to and installed Pro Plus 8 on a new Surface Laptop 2 running the latest build of Win10.  SNP was not installed on this machine before this time.  Selected options to install everything locally.  Sky Data folder contains 14GB at this point.

Went to %ProgramData% and fixed the folder name issue there, verified I could see Earth from orbit.

Attempted Favorites -> 3D Binary Stars -> Binary AB And (any star here will present the issue)

Screen transitioned, AB And selected, but seemingly not rendered.  Hovering over the region identifies the star, but it appears to not be loading the model.  I can vary altitude and no background stars will occult, though viewport orientation will shift at low altitudes.

Phobos -- Mars panned by nicely, but Phobos was invisible.

ISS -- also missing

51 Pegasi b -- rendered ok

    Strange, I also now experience what you report...I remember being able to view the Favorites -->3D binary stars but maybe that was before I renamed the ProgramData folder...

    Keiron, is there some setting that could make all this disappear?  I checked in shaders for example but all seemed ok there...

    also, the .3ds models & their textures are still in the main install directory and

    are viewable in 3rd party viewers, just no longer in SN...

    I remain puzzled what setting (or conflict e.g. observing list?) could cause this and the SN8 manual has very little info regarding displaying .3ds models

    and apparently we can only edit solar system models pp. 138 "The models you can replace fall only into the solar system category."

    Keith, any updates at your side?

    I just did a fresh custom 'entire' install on a 2nd laptop, all the models are present...all 3D binaries, ISS, Phobos draw correctly so far on this machine...I will watch to see if they also vanish over time like they appear to have done on my main machine described in a post above...

    something appears to be wrong...and it may be directly related to LiveSky. 

    indeed today, the 3d models no longer render in the clean install I mentioned in my previous post.  This install remains 'clean' the only thing I did was to log into LiveSky, I have not added any databases or observing lists.

    I figured out the setting associated with this problem:

    Shaders>>Models>>Projection-correct setting causes the models to 'vanish' 

    I added to the album at the link below a 1080p video that shows how toggling this setting makes the model appear & disappear:

    Pardon the silence, Growflavor.  Been a busy month.  Surprised Keiron hasn't responded.

    I reproduced the projection setting behavior on my machine.  Got a nice view of the ISS now.

    Was going to Phobos, and it crashed as it was arriving.  Dump sent.

    Hi Keith,

    Does viewing any of the other models (e.g. 3D binaries, Asteroids, etc) crash on your machine?

    For example, Pete is reporting trouble with some models crashing SN8 on his Dell laptops with older Intel iGPU...he made a list of some of the problem ones in the post at this link:
