SkySafari 6 Pro On Android Loses Data From Eyepieces, Telescopes Barlows (Answer: Android File Cleaner/Junk Remover Apps Are Deleting The Default LiveSky Account, Read On!)

It happened to me 3 times that at the start of the Sky Safari 6 Pro it had lost all the customization done, including data from telescopes, eyepieces, barlows and other preferences, opening as if it were the first time. I currently use Android 9PKQ1.180729.001. I would like to know how to fix this.

    Paulo,

We haven't had this report from others, so it is not immediately clear what is happening.

    1. Are you using the default LiveSky account or have you registered with an email address?

    2. Are you backing up to LiveSky Cloud Storage (see the Storage Settings)?

    3. If you are using a registered account, do you have multiple Android devices that are all syncing to this account?

    4. Some Android folks run some utility software that tries to "clean out" junk on their device.  Is is possible that something like this is purging the local database where we store this.

    Hi Bill,

    Thank you for answering!

I think you know Marcos Ackel, a great friend of mine form more than 40 years. I was talking to him about this problem and he told me to activate the LiveSky (I was not using it before). I created a free account with my e-mail. I don't know if this is the default one. Since then, no more problem.

I usually use the default junk remover of my MI-8 Android. I made some tests to check this and no problem!

I'll keep my eyes open and if the problem happens again I hope to get more information to pass.

    Regards,

    Paulo,

It is definitely better to use a registered account on LIveSky.  If you use the default one and your login gets deleted on the device, there is no way to retrieve your data again.  With the registered account you can always re-login again.

I do suspect the junk remover may have been your problem, but I can't say for sure.

Yes, I have had some email correspondence with Marcos in the past regarding the SiTech controllers.
