If yes, how do you align it? Do you align using the HC, then press Connect in the app? Does it then connect using the HC alignment? Or do you press Connect and Align, and it has you align via the app? Or what??

  Hi Brad, 

  The StarSense hand controller will have options to use a standard 2 star auto alignment procedure.  You can use that to star-align the scope and then connect with SkySafari.  You can test this during the day, do a fake alignment.
