I have a bunch of RA and Dec coordinates that I want to point my scope to (as parts of a mosaic). Can I put those coordinates into an observing list?

Tony Cooper I guess the answer is no

Keiron Smith Hi Tony,
Pease see FAQ # 21
https://www.skysafariastronomy.com/support/faq/skysafari.html
If you must use Ra/Dec then it is possible to create a CVS and convert/export to SkyList using another program such as Astroplanner or Deep Sky Planner.
Thanks!

Tony Cooper I tried Astroplanner but it failed to export the RA and Dec coordinates.
FAQ #21 does not say how to specify RA and Dec coordinates. I don't believe that it is possible else Astroplanner would have done it.
For the record, Astroplanner exports:
SkyObject=BeginObject
ObjectID=4,-1,-1
CommonName=myname
EndObject=SkyObjectThe object has RA and Dec but these aren't exported. Astroplanner exports RA and Dec when it exports in other formats and omits them only for ShySafari format. Therefore it seems reasonable to assume that SkySafari cannot handle RA and Dec.

Keiron Smith What about DeepSky Planner?

Tony Cooper DeepSky Planner exports .skylist or Open Astronomy Log. The problem is that SkySafari 6 doesn't import Open Astronomy Log format and .skylist doesn't support Ra / Dec coordinates.

Keiron Smith Hi Tony,
Can't you create a CVS using Ra/Dec, import into DeepSky Planner and then export as .skylist? Then import the .skylist into SkySafari. This get you the result you're looking for, right?
Importing OAL via LiveSky will be possible in the future - this feature is in development, but not ready yet.
Thanks!

Tony Cooper Creating a .skylist isn't the problem. The problem is that .skylist doesn't handle RA and Dec coordinates.
Maybe it does - but I haven't got it to work. What are the keywords? I've tried permutations such as
SkyObject=BeginObject
ObjectID=4,-1,-1
CommonName=mynameRightAscension=13
Declination=-67
EndObject=SkyObject
but it doesn't work. That's why Astroplanner doesn't do it.

Keiron Smith Can you create an observing list in DeepSky Planner using Ra/Dec?

Tony Cooper I don't have DeepSky Planner and the trial version doesn't allow export. But Keiron, can't you ask someone at Simulation Curriculum if .skylist supports Ra/Dec?
