The iOS updates for SkySafari are 2Gb in size, for minor updates and bug fixes would it be possible to develop an improved installer/downloaded that did not require all 2Gb of the program to be download for every update? I can understand major updates requiring the full file bug bug fixes for language localization or other bug fixes should not require all 2Gb of the executable to be downloaded.

Bhuvaneshbhatt I agree, this would be a desirable thing once the bugs with the new updates are ironed out.

Chris Most updates are much smaller but this one was large. I'm guessing it had something to do with the localization feature. Maybe Keiron or someone else will pop by and let us know.

Ian Parr I agree. In my case Android via Play Store. 1.9 Gb update!! ? Why not release an incremental update?
I read recently that Google decides whether to use incremental updates or not based on the number of users of the app and use of BSDIFF is referenced here, which also states that the vast majority of updates are incremental which surprises me based on my observations. The pending update size that Play Store reports is what gets downloaded.

Maybe there is a switch in the build that facilitates this or it depends on compiler options such a debugging support or how symbol tables get rebuilt each time.
I currently have a limited data allowance and this update will have to wait until i get an unlimited plan or a few gb to spare -
Chris Any update here from the developers?

Keiron Smith Hi Stargazers,
We will review this request for the next update. But, not making any promises at this time, and alternatively, I would also suggest updating SkySafari via WiFi instead of cell data.
Thanks!

Mark Koehler Great suggest, using WIFI does save on cell data usage. One slight problem, some of us don't live in areas that have fast internet. My internet, on a good day, provides 2Mbs download (oh and that is metered just like cell data) so downloading 1.9Gb updates takes forever. And if there is an error during that time I have to start the whole download again! Some of us simply do not have good internet coverage. And please don't suggest that we should visit a Starbuck or some other internet café that is also a poor solution when downloading HUGE files. Please strongly suggest to the developers to get incremental downloads implemented.

Keiron Smith Mark,
Coffeeshops, like Starbucks, almost always have free high speed internet.
Thanks!
