Hi does Starrynight pro plus give full control over the telescope  the reason being the scope belongs to a disabled person and the only real way he can use it is through a laptop  if not is there a way around so the lad can use it via laptop.

hope someone is able to help

    Hi Steve,

    1. What telescope make and model are you setting up?
    2. What OS?
    3. What kind of disability?

    Thanks!

    Hi Steve,

With that setup, the Meade mount will have to be aligned physically before a connection can be made to Starry Night on Windows 10.

Aside from physically aligning the mount, once the connection to Starry Night is made then complete (basic) control of the mount is possible from the Windows 10 laptop.

After physically aligning the mount it is possible to put it in a park position when not in use, and then physically aligning the scope on subsequent sessions is not required.  However, sometimes, physical re-alignment using the hand controller will be required, and so, parking the mount may not be a long-term solution.

For a completely remote configuration you may want to look at the Celestron SE or Evolution mounts, with Celestron StarSense.  With this setup, along with SkySafari 6 Plus/Pro (on iOS or Android) your friend can complete the alignment and control the mount using only a phone or tablet.

This kind of troubleshooting really requires hands-on advice.  I suggest contacting a local astronomy club, and ask for a Meade user volunteer to visit with you and your friend, to evaluate the setup against the challenges that your friend is working with.

    Thanks!

Many thanks for your quick responses. I realise I would have to do all the initial setting up of the scope, I'm quite aufait with that. I'm also assuming focusing would have to be done manually too. So other than what I've mentioned my step son would be able to operate starryNight 8 pro plus from the laptop

If you already have everything required you might as well just give it a go, and see how it comes together for you and your step son.

    Thanks!
