Alignment with sky portal wifi module problem

I have, a celestron cpc with celestron skyportal wifi adapter. Up until now I have chosen connect and align and have been asked to align on three bright objects as with the sky align on the handset. This has always worked perfectly. Now when I connect and align you have to choose a star on the app then move the scope to it to align. You then choose a second and third star to align to on the app. This is OK if you know which star on the app relates to the stars in the sky and many people don't. The goto's are way off and the app keeps crashing. If I align using the handset then choose connect the app stops the scope tracking for a few seconds then the app shows a completely different location to where the scope is pointing. Can someone please help me with this.
