[SynScan WiFi Beta Testing] SkySafari 6 Plus (6.7.1.1) Is Ready To Test On iOS 26th May 2020

I downloaded the new version, after first removing the previous version on test(6.6.5.2).

SkyWatcher SynScan Link is back.

Quick check, connected to the AZ-GTI mount,  but had some issues when trying to move to objects. I will test further as I think this was down to me with poor polar alignment - watch this space!

    Keiron hi

    I hope everyone is well.

I was wondering have you or any of your team managed or had chance to test things yet ?

Long story short, I am having the same problems as before basically.

Reticle stays locked or trying to move near to Polaris, the AZ-GTI mount appears to move, but…...

    In EQ-Mode

Azimuth seems or appears to move correctly, but the Altitude just keeps rotating.

Old App deleted, before installing the new.

Polar aligned using SharpCap(App and Mount turned off)

Powered up AZ, opened App and checked config, connected etc.

    Thanks

    Keith

    ps: also the same with

    SkySafari 6 Plus (6.7.1.2)

    Hi:

Ok, this is my report in AZ mode:

    1) Using Sky Safari alone

I can connect without problems now that Synscan is back.

I turn on the mount with the telescope pointing to the North horizon.(0 altitude)

With Sky Safari point to Sirius, the scope moves to this region, obviously I need to move it manually or with the motors to the real place where Sirius is located.

    I aligned, ok no error

I jump to Canopus. Out of  field. Move again with motors. Align (no error)

Jump to Spica. Same procedure. Out of  field

Jump to Alpha Centauri. Same procedure. Out of field

Conclusion: Basically now the Sky Safari allows to align without errors but never put the target inside the eyepiece field. Now this is understandable as you need to align the telescope  with at least two stars and Sky Safari doesn't t include this procedure.

    2) I use the app Synscan Pro. I align the object.

Open Sky Safari, connect the telescope .OK

Go to Sirius, Canopus, Spica, Alpha Centauri. Again miss the target. So the problem here is that Sky Safari is basically decoupled of SynScan app. As somebody commented before unless Safari include some alignment procedure we  need that just follow what Synscan does. Synscan is not a great and elegant  app but do well what it suppose to do.

So Keiron I guess we have two options here:

    a) Devise an alignment procedure using Sky Safari with two or/and three stars. (would be wonderful and very desirable!)

    b) Just couple or attach SkySafari in order to follow Synscan  (as Luminous does according to what other users commented)

    Thanks

    Luis hi

Interesting, so it would appear that in:

AZ-Mode, it is sort of working with alignment issues.

Where as for me purely in EQ-Mode, not at all, my starting point is (-90, 90).

    Thanks

    Luis,

When you have the time, please also copy and paste your report into a NEW post in this forum.

We would like each user report to have it's own post, as many of you will have different configurations, as Keith has also mentioned here.

    Thanks!
