How Do I Get The SkySafari 6 Plus Star Chart, When Using Compass Mode, To Align With The Real Night Sky? (Answer: Read On!)

My location and time are correct in SkySafari 6 Plus version 6.7.2.0. I am not standing near anything metallic or electric, but sometimes the stars and planets in the app do not align with the actual objects. They may be off by as many as 10 degrees. I've tried everything.

It used to work. I tried using the app to align my Celestron Nexstar 8SE last week. It would not align, so when I checked the app alone, I noticed the discrepancy. I uninstalled, then reinstalled to no avail. I tried moving the Google Pixel 3 phone around in circles with no luck.

My SkySafari 5 for iOS seems to work fine.

Please help.

    Hi Dave, 

    Compass mode has nothing to do with aligning a Celestron Nexstar 8SE

    You may be able to resolve the issue like this:

    1. Uninstall the app
    2. Using a file browser, go to the top level of the SD card and RENAME the directory "SkySafari 6 Plus" as "SkySafari 6 Plus-old"
    3. Now reinstall the app and try again.
    4. Recalibrate the compass following Android offiical instructions.
