How To Find Asteroid 2011 ES4? (Answer: Read On!)

The asteroid database of SN8 Pro seems not to contain the asteroid 2011 ES4, that was yesterday at the nearest point to the earth and was prominently discussed everywhere...

In Stellarium I was able to import and find it.

In SkySafari 6 Pro the asteroid can be find via search function.

Is there any way to find the object in SN8 Pro as well?

  Two options:

  1. Check the Asteroids.txt file to confirm your object is in the list.  If it is, note the line number.  In Starry Night > File > Preferences > Start Up > Increase number of asteroids read in at start up to 99,999 (or at least such that it includes your object's line number.  Quit and restart app.
  2. Alternatively, if your object is not included in the Asteroids.txt file you can add it yourself, manually via Starry Night > File > New > New Asteroid Orbiting Sun
