Please add a selection to Deep Sky Display in Sky Safari to select and show individual catalogs or all catalogs. Messier, PGC, NGC, Sharpless, etc should be individually selectable. Currently only all catalogs are shown. I use Sky Safari to find objects to image. And essentially some catalogs like Sharpless are invisible below magnitude 14. When setting to magnitude unlimited there's suddenly a million objects completely obscuring where you might find specific catalog items making it very difficult to find specific objects. But if you could turn off other catalogs, or turn on only specific catalogs, then it would be easier to find the objects. This applies to both OS X and iOS versions.

Blaine Snow Good idea. I wonder however if selecting "Best-Known Only" in Deep Sky Display would do the trick? Maybe not as specifically but...

Tom Polakis This is something that the ancient Megastar software did well, and it's useful for the reason that Andrew gives. Sometimes you want to see everything in only a certain catalogue, and that fills the screen if other objects are selected.

Chris I could see this being useful. For several smaller catalogs, a work around would be to do a search for, Sharpless for example, then turn that into an observing list and display that list. This could theoretically work with NGC as well but that's a lot of objects.
