SkySafari 7 Pro Compass Off By 45 Degrees When Samsung A9+ Cover Installed (Solution: Use A Non-Magnetic Cover)

SkySafari 7 Pro compass off by 45 degrees when the Samsung cover installed. Samsung's only cover, at the time of purchase, has a magnetic case. When running SkySafari, using the compass feature, and the cover is folded all the way back North becomes East; This makes the SkySafari unusable for telescope control. The work around is to remove the cover.

Has anyone reported this problem to Samsung ?

Thank you,

JeffD

    Jeff,

Covers with magnets have for a long time been an issue for app compass features.

The solution is either to get a cover without a magnet.  Or, to use without a cover.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately, in my case, the compass on my Samsung Galaxy A9+ just doesn't work right; Even without the case. I spent several hours with tech support going through the problem but nada. Even on google maps the compass points in the wrong direction. Yes, we did the whole update / re-calibrate ... I hope I can meet up with a friend to see if their A9+ behaves the same way. I'll keep you posted.
