[LiveSky] Unable To "Export My Observations to CSV" Get File With "Undefined"

I am using LiveSky Premium. When I click My User Icon > Import/Export > Export My Observations to CSV I get a .csv file with "Undefined" in it.

I have 3323 observations in total.

I am using Edge browser.

I note that export observations from an Observing List works.

    Hello Luca,

If I had to guess, it has to do with the total number of observations but 3300 should still be manageable. I have researched this issue and have a plan for an update to allow for an unlimited number of exports. I will prioritize and begin the feature update next week. I will post here when it is deployed.

Export My Observations to OAL also fails.

    Update:

I can successfully export an Observing list, Observations on an Obs List, Observations in a Session, and Settings But I cannot Export My Observations.

I tried  Export My Observations on different browsers on different computers - all fail in the same way.

I asked a colleague to try Export My Observations and they were successful.

Kyle Hendicks - have you had a chance to look into this? If not, can you give me an approximate ETA? I'd really like to be able to Export My Observations as I need to compile a summary of my observing programs to date. Thanks!

Hi Luca, I reported the inability to properly export data just over 2 years ago. The issue could be something in my data, but another user is experiencing the same issue. The post is in this forum ([Live Sky] How Come Only 3000 Records Are Exported Out Of 7,109 Observation Entries?). The forum post subject does say SimCur is working on it. Perhaps they'll have development cycles now they have SS Pro v8. This issue and the other issue of observations attached to the wrong object are the only two issues that prevent SkySafari from becoming the best Astronomy Log app for the tablet/phone user. Best, Mark F

Update. This feature has been implement and is currently being tested. My plan is to deploy to production early next week. I will announce here when it is ready.

When testing, I also noticed that large datasets of observations were very sluggish in LiveSky. That has also been fixed and will be deployed with the export fix.

The next version of LiveSky, which will be released next week, is a major update in terms of architecture. Initially you will see some minor UI improvements and several bug fixes. The new architecture will allow me add new features and make improvements much more quickly. I have many improvements and new features planned for 2026.

I released this as part of the LiveSky V2. Can you try again and let me know? I was testing on a 4k list and it took a few seconds. There is now an indicator that the download is being processed so you know something is happening as it may take several seconds depending on the list size.

Let me know if it works for you.

I have successfully downloaded all My Observations to CSV (about 3800). Thanks! The progress timer is a good improvement. The export was quick. I also noticed that LiveSky itself opens much faster than it used to. Also nice. Thanks for your work on this.

Hallelujah! The export issue has been fixed. I now have a backup of my observations. Thank you. Now, only two more outstanding defects to fix (scroll bars missing in Observing Sessions & Observations as well as the Observing Lists corruption issue), and Sky Safari will be back to the trustworthy Observing Log tool that it used to be.

Kyle, I just tested Live Sky in Mac Chrome on a M1 iMac and the speed difference is AMAZING! The previous version was glacial at best and unusable. I had to double check my edits using Sky Safari app just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Wow. Thank you.

    Best,

    Mark

    Mark,

Can you share the posts for the defects to fix (scroll bars missing in Observing Sessions & Observations as well as the Observing Lists corruption issue)?

    Thanks.
