[MacOS 12.0.1] Night Vision Turns Green On Both SkySafari 6 Pro Pro & Starry Night Pro Plus 8 Using MacBook Pro 16" M1 Max

Hello. I seem to have found bug:

Turning on Night Vision mode in macOS Sky Safari 6 results in the entire display turning *green* instead of the expected red. This is especially bad because the rendered display changes to red during the fading effect, and then goes to black because all red pixels are turned off.

This problem also exists with Starry Night Pro 8 (which isn't a surprise since I'm sure it uses the same OS call to change the screen red).

Version information:

  • Sky Safari 6.8.2 (Apple App Store) via Rosetta 2
  • Starry Night Pro Plus 8.0.6 via Rosetta 2
  • macOS Monterey 12.0.1
  • Mac Book Pro / 16" / M1 Max

As always, feel free to contact me for further details and testing!

    Hi Jeff,

Please attach a screenshot showing the green vision.

We have no other reports of this issue.  I wonder if it is OS related, or tied to the new processors.

How did you get the new 16" M1 Max already?  I see the release date is Oct 26th.

    Thanks!

    Hi Keiron

I can e-mail you a little video of what is happening so the dev team can see the full effect.

I was wondering if it was related to the new processors as well; the Rosetta emulation sometimes has weird issues; for example my USB headset is not working correctly in Discord but working fine on native apps. It's entirely possible that a native Apple Silicon version would correct the issue. What I couldn't rule out was that it was a macOS 12 Monterey issue, since I haven't tried eliminating variables by comparing with an Intel Mac.

(P.S. - I ordered my M! Max MBP within the first couple minutes after they went on sale, so I got near the front of the queue for delivery!)
