I have three questions regarding the Celestron AVX mount, StarSense AutoAlign V2, and Celestron SkyPortal WiFi Module.

1. I am using SkySafari 7 Pro, but I cannot get it to work with StarSense AutoAlign, and there is no StarSense AutoAlign menu in the app. Does SkySafari 7 Pro support this feature? If so, how do I use it?

2. I cannot connect to the Celestron SkyPortal WiFi Module when using SkyPortal app version 6 (SkySafari 6). How can I resolve this issue?

3. Is All-Star Polar Alignment (ASPA) separate from StarSense AutoAlign? Does this mean I still need to locate alignment stars and manually center them using an eyepiece or the iPad screen?

You need to be connected to Celestron WiFi to see the Celestron WiFi StarSense AutoAlign features.

    2. I cannot connect to the Celestron SkyPortal WiFi Module when using SkyPortal app version 6 (SkySafari 6). How can I resolve this issue?

Please check whether you can connect using the Celestron SkyPortal app.

Yes—ASPA and StarSense AutoAlign are separate alignment procedures, but they can work together.

    • StarSense AutoAlign teaches the telescope where it is pointing. Its camera recognizes star patterns and builds a sky model so the telescope’s GoTo system can find objects accurately. Celestron’s StarSense overview
    • All-Star Polar Alignment (ASPA) helps you physically align the mount’s polar axis with Earth’s rotation axis. It guides you through adjusting the mount’s altitude and azimuth knobs, improving tracking for long-exposure photography. It applies to equatorial mounts or alt-azimuth mounts on a wedge. Celestron’s ASPA explanation

StarSense AutoAlign does not automatically polar-align the mount. However, the original StarSense hand controller includes ASPA: you perform the StarSense sky alignment first, then run the separate polar-alignment routine and make the physical adjustments yourself. ASPA is also available on compatible Celestron systems without the StarSense accessory. Celestron documentation

    Thanks!
