[UX Issues]* Sky Safari 7 Pro Apollo Missions UI And Calendar Loading Issue

I purchased and downloaded SS 7 Pro early this morning (04/01/2022). After I downloaded the app (and all in-app downloads too) I immediately determined there were some substantial issues. For example: 1) When I try to run the Apollo simulations, I get an overview of the Apollo 11 mission…however, when I select one of the topics to view (“Mission Overview”, “Launch into Earth Orbit”, “Trans-Lunar Injection”,…) I am automatically taken back to the “View Missions” screen…no simulation, just back. 2) When I choose to “Orbit” any well known Deep Sky Object (M31, M42,…), I am taken to that location, but there’s nothing there…Nothing, just the background stars. 3) When I select the Calendar button I just get a blank screen…nothing more, just blank and the word “Done” in the upper right corner. 4) The app locks up periodically…no particular reason, it just locks up at which point my only option is to close and reopen SS 7 Pro. What good is that?? And I paid $24.99 for this??? Really?? I don’t think so!

These are just the issues I’ve found after download having not had much time to do a deeper dive into this app.

The portion of the app which works properly is very nice for sure. The app is very responsive and easy to use.

I am running SS 7 Pro on my iPad (9th gen), IOS 15.4.1.  I just now uninstalled and reinstalled the app and there are no changes in functionality…dose not work as advertised.

Please provide assistance to correct these issues. If these issues cannot be corrected, I will be requesting a refund of my purchase.

    Scott,

    1) When I try to run the Apollo simulations, I get an overview of the Apollo 11 mission…however, when I select one of the topics to view I am automatically taken back to the “View Missions” screen…no simulation.

    - This is a known issue and will be fixed in an upcoming update.

    2) When I choose to “Orbit” any well known Deep Sky Object (M31, M42,…), I am taken to that location, but there’s nothing there…Nothing, just the background stars.

    - DeepSky objects like M42 are not simulated in 3D, so there is nothing we can show you to orbit, that is why you see nothing.  But, you can see the rest of the galaxy from that place in space.  You can orbit and see simulated 3D objects, like planets, stars.  SS7 is developed more for telescope control, for serious observing, planning, documentation - it is not intended to be a powerful 3D simulator of the universe.

    3) When I select the Calendar button I just get a blank screen…nothing more, just blank and the word “Done” in the upper right corner.

    - Developers will review this issue on Monday.

    4) The app locks up periodically…no particular reason, it just locks up at which point my only option is to close and reopen SS 7 Pro.

    - Please reboot your phone and run only SS7 at startup, let us know if it still keeps crashing.  Developers get crash reports, so if there is an issue they will address it in the next app update as well.

    Thanks for your reports!

    Scott,

Please confirm the Calendar still does not load for you.  It can take a moment to load.

    Thanks!

    Hi Keiron,

I uninstalled then reinstalled SkySafari 7 again, and the calendar is working now.

Still having a bit of an issue with the app randomly freezing up (only way to regain access is to shut down the app, in which case any connection to scope is lost and have to re-establish). However, since the last reinstall the frequency of freezing has reduced.

I have raised the review of my SkySafari 7 Pro to 3 stars. I would love to get the remaining issue(s) corrected because I’d love to give the app a 5 star rating.

Thanks for looking into these issues.
