Before you can connect SkySafari to your AZ Mount Pro and control it from the app, you'll need to configure the connection. Here's how you do that:
1. You'll need to first set up WiFi on your AZMP. Refer to the User Guide from iOptron for details on that. SkySafari will need to know the IP address and port you've configured so make a note of it. You can get it from the AZMP handset by pressing the Menu button and selecting Settings | Wi-Fi Options | IP Address and Socket. Verify WiFi is properly configured and running on your AZMP.
2. Join your phone to the WiFi network SSID you chose when setting up WiFi on the AZMP. You'll probably need to go into the network settings for that SSID (on your Android device) and tell Android to remain connected even though it can't detect an Internet connection. Unless you want to connect automatically every time the mount is powered up, do not enable "connect automatically".
3. Launch SkySafari, open Settings and select Presets in the TELESCOPE section.
4. Touch the + Add Preset button at the bottom.
5. In Step 2, select iOptron CEM/iEQ Pro/AZ Mount Pro connection type and touch Next.
6. Select the Alt-Az GoTo option and touch Next.
7. Enter your AZMP's IP address and port (socket) number that you retrieved earlier from the mount. Touch Check Connection to confirm you're connected. If not, you'll need to perform standard network troubleshooting, which is beyond the scope of this tutorial. Touch Next to continue.
8. Give the connection preset a descriptive name, set any other desired options and touch the Save Preset button. If the GPS on your AZMP is reliable, there's probably no need to enable the Set Time & Location option. Your selected IP and port information will be displayed in the header at the top of the screen.
If this succeeded you can show the Scope controls from the chart toolbar and connect to the mount. All subsequent operations are the same regardless of mount type (not specific to the AZMP). See the SkySafari Help for details on those operations.
