Skysafari 7 Pro: Inconsistent "Connect & Align" experience. I cannot connect reliably

I use a SkySafari 7 Pro with a Celestron AVX or a CGEM-DX and iPhone 12 or iPad Mini and Celestron WiFi.

I can always connect to the scope but 90% of the time recieve this error:

"Connection Failure

SkySafari 7 Pro can make a wireless network connection to the scope, but the scope is not responding. Make sure it is connected and powered on. Also check that your scope type is correct."

WORKFLOW:

  1. Turn on Mount
  2. Wait for StarSense to come online
  3. At the READY FOR ALIGNMENT prompt I do a "Quick Align"
  4. I then CONNECT AND ALIGN from my iOS device

This is when I sometimes connect and align sucessfully but most of the time get the error above.

How should I troubleshoot this?

  1. I retry the connection 3-5 times and SOMETIMES the connection succeeds on the 3rd or so time
  2. I restart the mount and rinse/repeat.

Thanks

Jack

Jack, please provide the following info...

    1. App and version.  See Help > scroll to the bottom
    2. iOS/iPadOS version(s).
    3. iOS/iPad model(s).
    4. Screenshot of Celestron WiFi selected via iOS/iPadOS network settings.
    5. Screenshots of SkySafari Scope Preset config panels.
    6. What happens if you choose a different alignment option, instead of Quick Align?

    Thanks!

I will collect the info you request.

In the meantime, I have noticed that if I connect both the hand control and the Celestron wifi into a splitter and the splitter into the hand control port on the mount I am not encountering the error.

In my above workflow, I have the hand control in the hand control port and the wifi in the AUX port.

Does the hand controller work in the configuration, connected to the splitter?  You can remove the hand controller completely.  It is not required when connecting with Celestron WiFi modules.
