When in orbit mode showing the ecliptic does not appear to be particular helpful in the general case (i.e. objects outside the solar system). Would it be possible to treat the ecliptic similar to the horizon/meridian and hide it automatically when in orbit mode?

I just found out that one can easily show/hide the ecliptic by tapping on the coordinates field in the upper left corner (see screenshot, case solved as far as I am concerned). Apropos, this pop-up menu seems like the ideal place to implement a frequently requested feature: two buttons to show/hide names for stars and DSOs. One could also think about adding a show/hide button for the H-R Diagram.
