[UI Issue]* Incorrect Time Zone Assigned To The East Side Of Greece

When creating a new observation at current time (e.g. 22:45:30), the start/end time is logged as 23:45:30 (shifted by +1h). Strange enough, when you click on "Show Observation on Chart" the chart time is displayed correctly as 22:45:30. My guess is that this is driven by a behind the scenes DST calculation (my time zone is currently GMT+03:00). Is this by design or a bug?

    Terrain,

What is your location in the app?

    Thanks!

Sorry, I can't reproduce this without more info.  Is it possible to create and link me to a screen recording to show me exactly what is going on?

    Thanks!

Screen recording would just show what I initially described. It certainly looks like a DST issue. It seems that the logged time of an observation is not taking DST into account while the time on the chart does (hence the +1 offset). I also tried the following: if I set the time on the chart to some point in winter, e.g. December 16, 2022, then the logged observation time is correct (ie no offset).

I found out what the problem is. When you create a new observing site and opt for choosing a location from the map, SkySafari also assigns a time zone to the chosen location (hours from GMT). Greece is +2 hours from GMT and for the majority of the country this works correctly. But for a large area on the east side of Greece (i.e. islands and surrounding waters) SkySafari erroneously assigns the value of +3 hours from GMT (e.g. try Lat 37° 42' 00'', Lon 026° 50' 16'', Samos Island). I do not know how SkySafari sources the erroneous info for setting the time zone of each location, but my guess would be a shapefile. For the time being, I simply manually correct the time zone for the affected observing sites to the correct setting (i.e. GMT+2).

Thanks, Terrain, for your troubleshooting.  This is excellent, and we'll get developers to have a look at it.

Have you also updated to 7.0.4.0?

Just to clarify: Greece's time zone is GMT+2 excluding the DST adjustment (i.e. Greece is GMT/UTC + 2h during Standard Time and GMT/UTC + 3h during Daylight Saving Time).
