After Upgrading To MacOS Monterey 12.6 SkySafari 6 Pro Fails To Run (Answer: SS6 Pro Is Compatible With MacOS 12.6 - File Was Corrupted, Clean Install Fixed The Crash)

After upgrading to Mac OS 13, Sky Safari 6 Pro no longer loads. It will flash the display, then quit with an error message. I've submitted this in the forums with no response.

    Don,

Did you try reinstalling the app?

    Thanks!

    Don,

I updated to MacOS Monterey 12.6 and I don't find any issue running SkySafari 6 Pro.

    Please re-install the app.

    Thanks!

Will do - but I’ve already tried that.  Will make another attempt.

It occurs to me that it might be a file, not the app itself, that is corrupted. Perhaps a clean deletion of all related files would help.

My concern is getting my data back - will that be a problem? or is it stored on LiveSky, and I just need to re-sync?

I had hoped that a release of SS7 would fix this - any hope of that soon?

If you're backing up to LiveSky then everything will be restored once logging back into LiveSky after a clean install - yes!

    Thanks!

    I'll try that tonight.

    Success!

I had to use the AppCleaner, mentioned here:

    https://support.simulationcurriculum.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/4403986020119-How-To-Delete-ALL-SS6-Files-From-MacOS-Answer-Read-On-

But then it installed, and ran. I logged into LiveSky, and got my settings - I'm back in business!

    Thanks, Keiron.

A thumbs up and a thank you to all concerned. I couldn't find the receipts files in /private/var/db/receipts but I did find a couple of the other files as mentioned in the How to Delete All SS 6 article. I also did a Finder search for anything skysafari and relating to v6 and deleted those for good measure. I restarted my iMac 24 M1 and reinstalled SS 6 from the App Store. I am back in business as well. Clear night skies all!

    Best,

    Mark
