if you are using a USB to serial adapter you will need to install a driver. If the driver is not installed or recognized you will not see additional options for connecting your telescope under "Configure". If you have installed the driver but do not see further connection options consider the following:
1. Restart you computer - often required for drivers to be recognized after installation.
2. Reinstall the driver - perhaps it was not successfully installed the first time.
3. Contact the support department of the USB to serial manufacturer and confirm that the driver you are installing is both the most current driver and compatible with your operating system.
I'm having a problem using a Meade USB to RS232 Adaptor; I installed drivers and initially I got a driver is not installed message when attempting to connect to my Atlas Mount. I reinstalled and ended up with an option to upgrade via the internet which it did (it seemed very quickly) and after that I no longer received the "No Driver" message. However I still cannot connect S.N. to the mount. DOC Z
Have an Atlas mount and Windows 7 (64 bit). Can not get the Com port 3 working as it should in Starry Night. Updated the FTDI driver for the USB-to-Serial device and even updated the latest ASCOM drivers to no avail. Any suggestions? Device works as it should with other programs needing a serial port (Parallax device programming), just not Starry Night... Any suggestions/ideas?

Oh, and the device works just fine under Windows XP (SP 3) as Com 3 in Starry Night...
I have SP 1 installed for Windows 7 (64 bit), too.
I've Starry Night 6 Pro Plus (version 6.4.3).
Gib, There is hope. I did pretty much all the same stuff you did. My laptop has about 4 USB ports and I had to spend some time figuring out which one was COM 3 (or whatever COM I chose to use to run the mount). Once I did everything worked fine. I'm new to Windows 7 and frankly that OS so far has driven me nuts, but people tell me once you get used to it, it is a good system. I believe I have the same version of SN you have. The little hotspots in the lower left corner that turn on and off the constellations, the labels etc. have disappeared and so far I have not figured out how to turn them on again. I finally found the keyboard shortcuts in the help documentation so have been able to survive without them pretty much. I probably haven't helped you much but good luck. I had a lot of trouble getting the Meade USB/RS232 Adaptor working correctly but, like you, finally got the correct updated driver that would work with Windows 7. I'm using an Orion Atlas mount. I have a surface go. Windows ten with a usb c.
I connect a usb hub and when trying to use starry night 7 the configure does not find my telescope or SkyWatcher Eq6R mount
