Mac users of Starry Night V5 will encounter the error message "Unable to connect to update site. An internet connection is required " when attempting to download new data files. The files for download include the Calendars (updated once a month) and Comets, Asteroids & Satellites (fresh files posted daily). Unfortunately, given changes in OSX 10.7 Lion, these data files will now have to added manually. Fortunately, adding the files is a simple procedure. First, you need to locate the Sky Data folder

RIght click the Starry Night program and select Show Package Contents/Contents/Resources/SkyData

    1) Calendars (updated once a month)
Put this file inside: Sky Data/Calendar

    www.siennasoft.com/updates/data/calendar/current.php

    2) Comets, Asteroids, Satellites (fresh files posted daily)
Put these files inside: Sky Data and replace the existing ones

    http://www.siennasoft.com/updates/data/Comets.txt
    http://www.siennasoft.com/updates/data/Satellites.txt
    http://www.siennasoft.com/updates/data/Asteroids.txt

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Do you put these web site links in the indicated folders? Are the files downloaded first?

      Hi Jeff,

Download the.txt files from the links, and replace the existing .txt files with the new ones.

I have version 5.82 and OS X 10.7.2, there is no Calendar folder inside Contents/Contents/Resources/SkyData.

Also, the calendar download link does not seem to be working.

Like Glenn, I too have version 5.82 and OS X 10.7.2, and there is no Calendar folder inside Contents/Contents/Resources/SkyData.  Where do I put current.php?

You can create the folder yourself. Open the Sky Data folder ---> go to File ----> New Folder ---> rename "Calendars"

I would love to have this problem, but no one is answering my request to get links to the Lion versions of my purchased copies of Starry Night Pro and Starry Night Pro Plus.  Please check request numbers  4255 and 4362.  Thanks.
