I have difficulty in viewing SkyWeek.

Using Sky Safari 4 Plus on Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 (SM-T320) with Android 4.4.2, when I try to view SkyWeek, I often get a black screen first. I have to go back and forth several times until I can view the SkyWeek.

However, this behavior isn't consistent. Sometimes, I can view SkyWeek with a single click. Sometimes, I cannot view it at all and the Sky Safari crashes. Do you have any suggestions to solve this difficulty ?

I haven't seen this behavior so to is hard to say what is happening.  When this happens, do you see the "Downloading Events" status message?  Is the black screen after that goes away?

When the completely black screen shows, there is no the status message at all. No matter how long I have waited, the status message doesn't show up. So I have no choice. I have to go back to the star chart and press the skyweek button again. I have to do it back and forth until I can see the status message "Downloading Events". After the status message shows up, the skyweek always shows too. This behavior is not consistent. Sometimes I can view the skyweek easily.

You should look into your source code. I guess that you do something over the network before showing the "Downloading Events" msg. I think you request skyweek information from a server and the server doesn't reply. So the completely black screen shows up forever. At this point, if I wait for a very long time, the sky safari will crash.

We correctly handle the server not responding.  Something else must be going on.  I will try to take a look.

Oh really? So you don't need to do anything. I don't use the sky safari every day. So, my experience might be out-of-date.

Where do you get "So you don't need to do anything."?  I said I'd take a look.  But I know it is not because we aren't handling a server not responding.

I have not gotten any other reports of this kind of problem with SkyWeek so whatever it is, it is not widespread.

Sorry for confusing. Your comment #4 you said "We correctly handle the server not responding."

I don't want to put more work on you guys and I know my problem might be fixed.

So, I said "you don't need to do anything." because I know that my experience is based on my previous use last year. My problem might be out-of-date.

I already tried it again I don't see any problem right now. Thanks

I would say "Please don't do anything." instead.

Thanks, Douglas, Chris - this is an old post.  However, the SkyWeek issue is known, and originates with SkyWeek, and we are working with them towards a solution.
