Telrad circles

I use the circles of Telrad when searching for objects. I found a few things that make the use of circles difficult.
1) In the night mode, Telrad's circles are very dim. I just do not see them. Make them please more fat, like eyepieces.
2) I can not include the circles of Telrad without from the circles of the eyepieces. It is not comfortable. They interfere with each other.
3) When searching for objects, I am guided by 6.2 stars of magnitude. But SkySafari does not allow you to select the number of displayed stars. When zooming, the number of stars varies. Please do the lock function. I showed one of the options in the image below.

  1. This is not a complaint we have heard before, but I can see if we can brighten them slightly.

  2. Yes, you can display Telrad circles without the eyepiece circles.  You just need to toggle off the eyepiece circles at the top of the display settings.

  3. I don't think we will be adding the lock function.  We think it will add more confusion than it solves.  This has been requested occasionally before and the idea has been rejected.  I can discuss it with the development team again though.

  2) If you turn off the eyepiece circles, then Telrad also turns off.
  3) Such a function is in the Stellarium. I've never heard that it confuses users. In my opinion, this is the simplest solution.

  2. No, it doesn't. Are you turning them off from the Scope Display settings?  I have tried it on both iOS and Android and can display the Telrad circles without any eyepiece FOVs being displayed.

  3. I don't think it confuses user. If you really think that it causes confusion, make it more difficult to access, so that causal user don't have the opportunity to be confused.

  2. Yes, I know that this can be done. But, I often prefer faster access to eyepieces through the Circles menu on the map. Top right corner. If you turn off the circle of the eyepiece, then the circles of Telrad also turn off. It is not comfortable.
  3. I have one more option for limiting the star limit for the Telrad. Make an option in the display settings. When Telrad is enabled, the limit is included. This is more convenient for people with Telrad and does not confuse those who do not need it.
  I just do not think that those who include the circles of Telrad, need more stars than those he sees with the naked eye.

  Romain,

  OK, not I see what you are referring to about the Telrad circles being turned off when you turn off all eyepiece views in the popup panel.  I believe this is a somewhat subtle interaction where the "Show even when not connected to a scope" is toggled when you turn off the last eyepiece FOV from the popup.  I seem to recall there was a specific reason for this but it does have that side effect.  I will look into changing it.

   

  Once again, we will consider having a way to lock the limiting magnitude.

  I agree that the Telrad circles are a little too dim but I wouldn't want them brightened much more. My workaround is that I gave up the first 3 custom FOVs (Android phone) and set them to 4, 2 and 0.5 degrees. When I want to quickly see Telrad circles I drop down the FOV panel and tap each of the 3 "rings" rectangles to see the circles. These circles are brighter.

  I would like to be able to toggle Telrad circles without going into settings and without giving up a custom FOV but I can appreciate how precious screen space is.

  How about just adding a Telrad option to the FOV, rings pop up?!

  It'd certainly be easier than wading into the menus to turn it on-- and would avoid the interaction effect,

  The current way does allow one to turn OFF the Telrad, by simply turning on and off a ring, but it'd be cleaner to give its own toggle in the FOV dialog window!
