Maximum number of satellites?

I have a question regarding the Satellite File.  I'm using windows 10, Starry Night Enthusiast 7

What is the maximum number of satellites that I can have in the Satellites.txt file to load into the program.

I regularly download a txt file that contains just under 17,000 satellites in 3 line format.  In the Startup, I have increased the number from 600 to 17000 but the program crashes.

The reason I ask is, our Astronomy Club regularly meets every Friday night, when we view a satellite, we would like to be able to identify it and most of the ones we view are not in the "brightest or most viewed list"

Thanks very much for your time.

    Hi Greg,

    1. What is the last thing you see and do before the program crashes?
    2. If there is any error message what exactly does it say?

    Thanks!

I select the "planets" panel in the drop down list on the right of the screen.  (under Sky Guide...  View Status...)

It sits there for just a bit about 30 seconds then it just says "program not responding, searching for a solution, then just shuts down.

I tried it three times and on the third time it worked !

I completely shut the computer down and restarted so maybe it was just a fluke?

    Thanks for your time Keiron

PS...is 17,000 to many to load or am I okay?

    Keiron,

Everything seems to be working okay now with them loading now.

One additional question, I have it set to "label" each satellite but for some reason it's only labeling about 10% of what is visible on the screen.  I can see satellites moving across the sky, but for the most part, there not labeled.  I have it set to label all satellites, with the slider bar moved all the way over the 22 mag.  If I click on a satellite that's moving across the sky that's not labeled, it says the apparent mag would be around 4.5.

17,000 is not an issue for Starry Night.  However, it could be an issue for your computer.  I used to load 99,999 asteroids into Starry Night 6 on a older 2008 Macbook computer, and the program would slow to a crawl.  On a recent 2013 Macbook Pro loading 99,999 asteroids is not a problem at all.

I will have to review the label issue.  I'm going to convert this discussion into a private ticket so you can send me some more information.
