SkySafari 5 Set Time & Location disabled for Celestron Evolution iOS

Hi,

the "Set Time & Location" setting in SkySafari 5+ for iOS is off and disabled for "Celestron Wi-Fi" in both my iPad and iPhone. Both devices are running iOS 11

Is this expected? Would that have any effect on alignment? I have not been able to align using SkySafari and have to fall back on handset.

thank you,

Kyle

Yes, it is expected that this is disabled with the Celestron Wi-Fi option.  The Time and Location is always set with this scope type.

If you are having problems with the alignment, I encourage you to contact Celestron Customer Service about it.  Celestron maintains this code and is much moe knowledgable about it than we are.

Thanks Bill, that's good to know. Maybe a UI tweak to "Disabled (On)" would help other neurotic users...

I'm now successfully aligning my Evo mount with Sky Safari by using "Connect and Align" from the get go. Previously I would connect first and then pick a star and select "Align" under the evidently false presumption that this would initiate a manual alignment sequence, but which would always result in a failure message. I use manual align because of the obstructed view from my balcony.

Very pleased with the app and happy to not be entering SAO numbers all night!

Glad it is working now.  I believe the reason we did not have it disabled and "ON" is because it actually doesn't really set anything in the mount.  With the Celestron Wi-Fi scope type all information is kept in the app.
