SkySafari Pro (iOS) | No Connect or Connect and Align Showing For Celestron Evolution 8SE

 I was at a STEM night with my Evolution 8 tonight. My iPad Air showed I was connected to the Celestron Network, but SkySafari 5 Pro had no Connect or Connect and Align at the bottom of the screen. I tried multiple times with no luck. I turned Wi-Fi off then on, even rebooted the iPad, but still had the same issue. I've been using this for over a year and never had an issue like this. I tried my iPhone 6 Plus and it showed the Connect or Connect and Align properly. They both are running IOS11.1.1.

 

Just wondering if anyone else has seen an issue like this with an iPad?

    Do you have "Celestron WiFI" selected as the ScopeType?

    Yes, it’s Celestron WiFi. As I mentioned, I used this for more than a year without issues.

    Tony, I can't think of any way this could be happening.  Please double check that in the Scope Setup settings, you have Celestron Wi-Fi chosen as the scope type.  This is exactly what I'd expect if it were set to something else.

    I’ll give it another try later today. I was concerned because both devices have the same IOS and since IOS 11, Apple has had a few minor updates to it. Last night after submitting this, I received a notice to download 11.1.2. I will apply that before trying again this afternoon.

    Well, apparently what I was dealing with is a case of cockpit error! I turned the scope on and still didn’t have he proper menus at the bottom of the screen. I checked all the settings and everything looked fine. I went back to the home screen totally confused. I started tapping various icons on the bottom and when I tapped the scope icon, the connect/connect and align showed up. I swear I did that last night, but obviously I didn’t. I guess I must have been doing something with the app and left it in the middle of some menu and didn’t realize where it was.

    Lesson learned. Sorry to bog this board down with my error, but I appreciate the help provided.
