SKy Safari 4 Pro. Android 8 problems

I upgraded my phone from a Hauwei Mate 8 to a Huawei Mate 10. The app has several bugs now and can not be used correctly.

The Android version is now Android version 8.0.0

The App does run. The screen comes up with the Star Map and I can move around the map. The Compass also works fine.

 

BUT,

When I click on "Settings" the App exits. There is no Error message.

 

When I Search for an Object it finds the object and displays the info about it. When I click on "Center" it goes to the Sun every time no matter what object I am trying to view.

 

When in the Star map and I click on "Info" it always shows me the Info for the Sun no matter what object I am on.

 

Is this a problem with Android 8 ?. If so, Will there be an update to it ?

 

Do you have any other suggestions I can try ?

    Hi Charles, 

    I think you can resolve the issue like this:

    Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&hl=en (or similar)

    1. Uninstall the app
    2. Using a file browser, go to the top level of the SD card and delete the directory "SkySafari 4 Pro"
    3. Now reinstall the app and try again.

    Thanks for the help.

    That folder only contained one file. I deleted the folder and now it runs fine. I didn't need to remove and reinstall. Simply deleting that folder fixed the issue.

    Clear skies would be wonderful in Sydney Australia. I used to do a lot of AP but we rarely get clear skies with no moon anymore. We get 2 observing nights a month at our dark site. And it's been mostly cloudy for 12 months now.
