Will SkySafari 6 Pro For Android Use Google Drive Or Sync Via LiveSky? (Answer: Sync Via LiveSky)

I have just purchased SS 6 Pro for IOS and noticed under storage that there is no option for backups to Google Drive where I have done all my backups in order to synch with my Android device.

Will this be coming in the future or will it be implemented when the Android version becomes available.

Thanks

    Hey Phil

I think they've done away with Google Drive in version 6 and are now using their own in-house cloud, which should give them much more flexibility and control over how it works. Here's a short description I found for the new feature:

    - “Clouds and Astronomy”.
Two words that rarely go together. Rewritten from the ground up, SkySafari 6 will (optionally) back up all of your observing data in our secure cloud storage and make it easily accessible to multiple devices as well as from our web interface, LiveSky.com.

My guess is that you can copy over all of your old observing lists manually. If you go to Google Drive and download the data to your phone then move it to the right folders in the Sky Safari 6 directory, then connect to their new cloud system, I'm guessing it'll backup to the new system, allowing you to connect other devices. Hope this helps!

Thanks Chris for the advice.  I've managed to get my files and observations over to SS 6.

    Hi Phil,

SS6 on Android, when released, will auto-sync all your files via your LiveSky.com account.

    Thanks, Chris!

Happy holidays and clear skies to your both!
