SkySafari 6 Pro | Update Minor Body Orbit Data Fails With Zero Data

I'm running the latest SkySafari Pro on the latest iOS.  My iPad is able to update minor body orbit data (although it is painfully slow.)  My iPhone hasn't been able to update since Dec 27.  It takes a long while and then says that zero data was uploaded.  I've tried killing the app and rebooting the iPhone.  Any other suggestions?

On a related note...  Reloading Earth orbiting satellite data needs to be done pretty frequently.  Natural objects, in solar orbits, not nearly as often.  What about having two update buttons?  One for artificial TLE data and one for the natural objects?

Happy new year,

Will

By "latest" I assume you mean SkySafari Pro 6.0.0?  I'm not seeing any problems updating orbital data.  Is it still happening for you now?  If so, I suspect the problem is on your end.

The update in SkySafari 6 is significantly faster than in SS5.  What type of connection to the internet do you have?

    Hi Bill:

I just tried it again and it worked.  I'm not sure what changed.  It took about ten minutes.

Yes, I have SkySafari Pro 6.0.0.24 and I didn't see this problem in Pro 5.

My iPad did this a couple of times after upgrading to V6 and then seemed to cure itself after I reset the app and/or power cycled the iPad.  Sorry to be so imprecise.

I just ran the Speedtest app on the iPhone and got about 4.8 Mbps download, 2.75 Mbps upload, and ping of about 43ms.  So, not a great connection, but not too shabby.

    Best wishes,

    Will

    Will,

The update mechanism has changed quite a bit in SS6 but I haven't heard of any speed issues.  Ten minutes is a long time.  Generally takes me around 20 secs but I do have a faster connection.  Let me know if you continue to have problems.
