Tony,
Try updating your Minor Body Orbit Data and see if it then appears. I am seeing it in the list on Pro. I'm also surprised you are not seeing comet Heinze at magnitude 9.2
That fixed the problem. It said that the previous update was Jan 04.
The update wasn't without problems, however. The comet list showed a 3rd magnitude comet at the top straight after the update. I didn't get the name and it's gone now. But it was definitely there - notable because there are no comets around at that magnitude.
We haven't seen that but let us know if it happens again.
I just want to inform that I also had the same issue as Tony. Updating the Minor Body data fixed it for me also. However I did not found a 3mag comet in the “Brightest Comets” list after the update, I checked it immediately right after the update.
Prior to updating I could find comet C/2016 R2 by searching for its name and view it while it was selected. But it disappeared as soon I unselect it, even if I had it zoomed in until is showed the tail. (The magnitude limit for solar system was set to unlimited)
Comets won't be shown when not selected unless you have the "Show Comets" option ON. Doesn't matter what you magnitude settings are if they are not turned ON.
Yes, I had "Show Comets" turned on. (I checked it multiple time, and even tryed to turn if off and on again.
Just to clarify: updating “Minor Body data” fixed all my issues.
I just wanted to give feedback that there was more than one user experience this issue.
Thanks, Anders, for the follow up report!
