After adding premium subscription on my tablet, Menu -> Settings goes directly to the Subscriptions page. If I close that it exits all the way out of Settings to the main sky view. I cannot access any other setting items.

Short of a full reinstall, I first cleared all the app data and re-ran. That seems to have cured it. Of course I had to re-download all of the astronomy content but no big deal.
