Commercial Use Question

Hi

Firstly, I apologize in advance if this question has been answered elsewhere - I looked but couldn't find an answer. I'm working on a contract with Briston Brands to produce a set of constellation flashcards that will be sold on Amazon. We have the text and the layout, we just need the graphics.

We would love to use SkySafari to produce the maps of the constellations. Is that possible? If so, what's required? I've been told they would be able to put a credit on the packaging.

My thinking was that we use the software to produce charts, with a couple of DSO's highlighted (eg, M42, M45 etc). I understand that images of the classical depictions of the constellations might not be possible for copyright reasons.

    If Sky Safari isn't an option, you might look at open source products like Stellarium, Kstars or World Wide Telescope.  If you aren't familiar with these you might look at Stellarium first. It has constellation lines and constellation graphics. There are a plethora of options for field size and resolution and you can save images to disk with a key-stroke.
