[UX Issue]* SkySafari 6 Pro DSS Images And Redownloading Fails For Specific Objects (Developers Are Reviewing The Issue)

I have the latest (beta) version of SkySafari 6 Pro for Android.  "Show DSS Image" works file for most objects but some simply will not load.  Even pressing the "Redownload Image" button does nothing.

This has been a problem for a long time with the Android version (both released and beta.)  It has finally become enough of a problem I thought I should report it so it can finally get fixed.

I wonder if it has to do with certain sections of the sky. For example, NGC 5427 will not load an image. Also, any object near it (e.g. NGC 5426, PGC 118974, GAIA 3643552084412682368) fails with "Show DSS Image" and "Redownload Image".

My internet connection is fine and there is no trouble with other apps or other objects in SkySafari 6 Pro. For example, NGC 5400 (3 degrees away from NGC 5427) does load the image by pressing "Show DSS Image".  But NGC 5468 (1 degree away) fails to load.

So PLEASE look into this problem and fix it as soon as you possible.

    Please provide a running list of objects that fail to download DDS images.

    Have you tested this on iOS as well?  Why do you think it is Android only?

    Thanks for your report!  We will look at improving the DDS download experience.

    I do NOT have and do NOT want any Apple products -- so this has NOT been tested by me on iOS.

    Can't you simply test the objects I have already described to see if they show the DSS image or not?

    There have been several objects over the years, but I have not created a list.  Please try the objects I already described.

    We are working on SS7 now.  We will check the objects you have listed.

    It is possible the issue is with the source of the DSS, that there is no image available to download.

    This has happened all the way back to SS5 Pro, so it's quite possible it has something to do with the location of the object.

    As I come across more that do not load, I will send an updated list.

    In addition to the ones I already listed:
    NGC 5427, NGC 5426, NGC 5468

    ... these will not load images either:
    NGC 4902
    NGC 4997
    NGC 4924
    NGC 4899
    NGC 4856

    On my iPad mini NGC 5044 doesn't download a DSS image

    Many other galaxies in that region also don't have DSS images including:

    NGCs 5054 5037 5017 5035 5047 5046 5049

    and many more
