iOptron IEQ30 connection issue

I am using an iOptron usb to serial cable to connect to a M2 MacBook Air running Ventura 13.6. The software is seeing the correct port to connect to the mount.

I can get my mount to connect to Sky Safari Pro V6 but I cannot get the mount to move or respond to any GoTo commands.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have solved my own problem. I assumed that the HC should not be connected to the mount when connecting to Sky Safari Pro (the iOptron manual tells you not to have the HC connected to the mount when controlling the mount from a computer).

I connected the HC to the mount this time, connected to Sky Safari and issued a GoTo command. It worked.

    Issue solved.

...almost. I can do GoTo but cannot use the arrow keys in SF to move about. I just get the spinning rainbow wheel of death whjenever I attempt a move using a directional arrow.

Is there a cure for this?

    Jim,

    Please see:

Did you align the mount using the hand controller before connecting with SkySafari?

Thanks Kieron, but I am working with a wired connection to a Mac and not a wireless Android connection.

The crux of the problem is that I cannot use SF’s arrow control keys as my Mac hangs. I can use the HC 8407 but I want 100% remote control.

Yes, I do align the scope before connecting to SF but I have found that SF is discovering my telescope position without prealigninment.

    Please provide the following info:

    1. SS6 or SS7?  Version number.  See Help.
    2. HC firmware version.
    3. Screenshots of telescope configuration panels.
    4. Cables used (with photos).

You must pre-align for a successful connection.

    Thanks!

    SS6. Version 6.8.2

    HC Firmware version: 120712

    screenshot of telescope configuration panel:

    Cables used:

setup #1: iOptron usb to serial cable > Generic USB 2 to USB C adapter.

setup #2: iOptron usb to serial cable > USB 2 extension cable > Generic USB 2 to USB C adapter.

    Jim,

Generic USB 2 to USB C adapters do not transmit data.

That is more than likely the origin of the issue.

    Thanks!
