I am attempting to interface Starry Night Pro on a MacBook Pro with an LX200GPS. The USB Serial adapter is a Radio Shack unit. I assume that I need the correct adapter driver for the MacBook . Any guidance on where to find the correct Mac driver or alternately what adapter to get that will work?

if you are using a USB to serial adapter you will need to install a driver. If the driver is not installed or recognized you will not see additional options for connecting your telescope under "Configure". If you have installed the driver but do not see further connection options consider the following:
1. Restart you computer - often required for drivers to be recognized after installation.
2. Reinstall the driver - perhaps it was not successfully installed the first time.
3. Contact the support department of the USB to serial manufacturer and confirm that the driver you are installing is both the most current driver and compatible with your operating system (this is an important consideration for Mac users running OS X 10.6 & 10.7).
I would think the USB2Serial cable obtained from radio shack is sufficient, but without a description of the actual model I cannot help much more. If you can find the USB2Serial cable on the Radio Shack website, and link it here, I will see if I can help find the driver.
If you fee the USB2Serial cable and/or driver does not work properly with your LX200GPS I advise you consult a Meade LX200GPS Yahoo group for the best alternative (and please post any conclusions/discoveries here too!)

I gave up on getting a driver for the Radio Shack adapter. I purchased an adapter from Tripp-Lite KeySpan Model # USA-19HS (Not sure which is the Company name) They included a CD of Windows and Mac drivers. The Mac drivers of course did not work with Lion. I contacted their tech suppt and downloaded their Beta driver for Lion as the tech instructed and it worked perfectly. My Mac/Lion Starry Night Pro setup works just as it is supposed to.
