LX90 telescope control problem

Originally from ticket #6655.

I am trying to connect my laptop with Windows 7 to a Meade LX90 scope with #497 handbox. I'm using Starry Night version 6.4.3 with ASCOM 6SP1. I have also downloaded the new drivers for Mead scopes, 5.0.3. When I connect my scope to the laptop with a usb/serial cable and launch Starry Night, I am not getting any telescope options to select in the configure menu. I have starry night on a desktop running the same version but ASCOM 4.1 and it pulls the different scopes up. I'm not sure what I am missing but would appreciate any assistance. Thanks.

    Confirm the checklist.

    1. Latest Ascom

    2. Latest driver

    3. Latest firmware for paddle.

    4.  Latest driver for USB to Serial cable.

    Follow the start up procedure,

Did you have any success after following the troubleshooting-setup guide?

I am now able to see a Meade Classic option in the Telescope tab when I go to configure the scope.  I was starting Starry Night before connecting the scope.  Now I am getting an error message after I go to the properties tab and fill in the info about the scope.  The error I'm getting is "Ascom Telescope Plugin - Failed to create or open the plug-in's registry area.  I have verified I am running the most current ASCOM and USB/Serial cable.  The 497 handbox is currently in 33E.  Is there a minimum verision it needs to be for it to configure properly or may there be something else that is not configured correctly?  Thank.

Please right click the Starry Night program and choose Run As Admin during start up, then configure the scope as usual.

    Does that help?

Yes, that did fix this issue.  I can now control the telescope by using Starry Night.  Thanks for the help.
