Starry Night 6.4 Orion edition with an Orion XT10i push-to Dob

Originally from ticket #5730.

I am trying to use Starry Night 6.4 Orion edition with an Orion XT10i push-to Dob. I have had a little success but the software but screen updates in the Follow Scope mode take several seconds after the scope is moved. I am also having problems if I try to use the Intelliscope features. The software starts to randomly move around instead of keeping up with the scope. Is it not possible to use the features of the Intelliscope while connected to the Starry Night program?

First, click here to update your version of Starry Night.

Second, visit http://www.ascom-standards.org to make sure you're updated to the lastest version of Ascom 6.

Third, visit http://www.ascom-standards.org/Downloads/ScopeDrivers.htm to make sure you have the most recent ascom driver package that is compatible with your mount. - In your case you want to download the Celestron driver.

Please also read the Starry Night telescope set up & troubleshooting guide as well:

I did all of the above before attempting to contact StarryNight support six weeks ago.

I did get a response from Orion on 6/2:

Thank you for your email to Orion.  I apologize for the delayed response to your email.  After you complete the alignment process, before you set down the controller and use your PC, press the FCN key.  The problem of delay was encountered when setting up the Intelliscope to use with the StarSeek App and solved (inexplicably) consistently by doing this.  Let us know if that works or we can troubleshoot further.

I have since sold the telescope so I cannot carry this forward. Maybe it will help someone else.

Also, the problem is the SkyQuest XT10i not the XTg.
