Originally from ticket #6500.

Product Name: CGEM - 1100 Computerized Telescope (item# 11099)
I am running win xp and have starry night pro software.
I do usenexremote software and it works as it should.
However, with starry night it does not work.

    HI Harold,

This forum is for Starry Night users to help each other regarding telescope issues.  Starry Night supports all mounts that support Ascom; and many drivers have been written for Mac OSX.  However, our company does not have specialized knowledge regarding the finer details of each telescope and mount.  Specialized knowledge regarding little technical quirks, known firmware issues, etc, are privy to the community of owners who share the same telescope/mount.  Starry Night support will always help as much as possible, but it is here in this forum, where the solutions and workarounds to specific mount-related issues can be resolved by help from that community.

First, click here to update your version of Starry Night.

On Windows operating systems, Starry Night supports any equipment/mounts compatible with ASCOM.

Second, visit http://www.ascom-standards.org to make sure you're updated to the lastest version of Ascom 6.

Third, visit http://www.ascom-standards.org/Downloads/ScopeDrivers.htm to make sure you have the most recent ascom driver package that is compatible with your mount - your driver will be the Celestron unified driver: http://download.ascom-standards.org/drivers/Celestron(5.0.23)Setup.exe

Fourth,  visit your mount manufacturer's website and make sure you have the lastest firmware in the mount's hand paddle.

Once you have completed the checklist above the procedure for connecting a telescope is as follows:

    1) Power on the telescope (and align it if you're outside at night).
    2) Plug it into the computer.
    3) Start Starry Night.
    4) Open the Telescope tab and click Configure to choose your telescope.
    5) Click the Connect button.

If after following this set up guide you are still encountering difficulty please please post a reply here discussing the difficulty encountered.  If you are successful, please also post a reply here saying as much.

    Thank you.
