I only have SN version 7. My friend has version 8. He wants to have all the Messier objects auto-display when he starts the program. As of now all we can find is a way to manually turn them on each time using the panel on the right of the screen. Turning them on and saving defaults doesn't work. Can't think of anything else to try. Any help/suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.

Could you select all the Messier objects and then "File->Save As...", say "Messier" to the desktop (I'm on a Windows 11). Then start SN8 by double clicking on that file (Messier.snf). On my system that starts SN8 with all the Messier objects selected, but preserves all my other settings.
