Starry Night 8 Pro Hangs On Startup (Solution: Update Driver On New OS)

I have been using Starry Night Pro for a few years with no problems.

I just upgraded my computer to Windows 11 and now Starry Night Pro will hangs during startup during 'finishing initialization'.

I tried 'repair', I tried installing an update, I tried removing Starry Night Pro and re-installing with the same results

Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Roger,

If you haven't already tried, it might be worth switching off the checks for updates or data files. Data files can be turned off in the 'Help' menu and update checking in the File->Preferences dialog. While you're in the Preferences dialog, try unticking the Auto-Search Today's events.

Another thing I would try is making sure your graphics drivers are the latest and then disabling things such as the Shaders and advanced graphics features to see if that is causing it to hang up.

Starry Night 8 Pro, works happily on my Windows 11 Home 23H2 system. So it's not the OS per se.

If all else fails, can't you submit a support ticket request?

I hope you find a solution.

    Roger,

Try re-installing the app on your new Windows 11 OS.

Thanks, Pete, for your assistance too!
