High Resolution Moon Map Issue (Answer: Update To Latest Version And/Or Reinstall The App)

Running Android "One UI version 7.0 on Android version 15

I haven't run SkySafari for a month or so but the last couple of days I've noticed that as I zoom into the Moon, it does not switch resolutions as I zoom in deeper. In the troubleshooting process, I note that on 1 July 2025 my version was updated to V7.6.1.10

This kind of thing has happened before: Something that was working, will fail. Nothing can be done to restore proper operation. During the troubleshooting process, I'll see that an update has occurred sometime between the last usage and the new failure mode being noticed. Later, a new version will be pushed out and the thing that was broken, is working again.

With the exception of a reinstall, I've tried almost everything your AI has suggested but to no avail. What should I do to restore proper zoom response, or should I just wait for another version to be pushed out?

Thanks much - Grant Martin

    Hi Grant,

Please check for an update to 7.6.2.3.

Update the app, check the resolution again.

Also, reinstalling the app could help.

High resolution maps are downloaded separately as part of the initial installation.

    Thanks!

Well this is interesting: Neither my app nor the Google Play store show either an update is ready, or an ability TO force an update. The Play store says it has version 7.6.1.10, which is the same version I have installed.

I am very Leary of performing an uninstall and then a reinstall of the same, older version. The install process takes serious time and resources and is usually a PINTA to get it back into action with the same configuration I had prior to the process.

Also, if I HAVE to perform an uninstall/install sequence, will all my related & saved settings & configurations remain through a reinstall?

    Quirky.

Did you create a LiveSky account? You can backup current settings and restore them as well.

7.6.2.3 must be a beta version.

Reinstalling is the best way to fix the map issue.

Like Mike said, with LiveSky you can restore all your settings, no problem.

Make sure you have login in to LiveSky via SS7 Settings > LiveSky before you uninstall and reinstall.

    Thanks!

I'm now running 7.6.2.3, I also never never left the Beta. I also haven't seen much as far as bugs go lately. When I do it's usually some minor UI/UX bug......
