SkySafari 7 Can No Longer Access SynScan After October Update (Solution: Update To 7.6.6)

Running iOS 26 iPhone 15Pro. I noticed SkySafari 7 updated a few days ago and can no longer access the Skywatcher Wifi on the mount via SynScan. Nothing has changed in the mount or the software except the update. Permissions enabled. Looks like a bug that locks out communication with SynScan.

Some more detail on the issue:

I'm running SkySafari Pro 7.6.4 on a iPhone 15Pro running iOS 26.0.1 The mount is a Skywatcher Wave 150i.
Before the latest update to SkySafari there were no issues connecting the phone to the local mount wifi, aligning with Synscan, and launching SkySafari 7 Pro to navigate. SkySafari accessed the wifi easily. With the update to 7.6.4 SkySafari can't access the wifi (or can't communicate with SynScan). When the "Connect" button is tapped you see "Connecting..." and nothing happens. Tried rebooting the iPhone and re-downloading the app. Mount settings selected in SkySafari are Equatorial GoTo (German) and SkyWatcher SynScanLink. Also tried SkyWatcher SynScan. No luck.

Interesting that we've got two different Skywatcher mounts both experiencing the same issue - I had wondered if the issue was mount-specific. I wonder if the issue happens on Android phones as well.

Same issue here. I have a Sky-Watcher Flextube Synscan goto dob using an iPhone 12 with iOS 18.7.1 and iPad Pro with ios 26.0.1. Everything was working fine until the latest update of SkySafari Pro 7. There are also quite a few people on the Cloudy Nights forum using Sky-Watcher mounts and iOS that have the same connection issue.

    Edward, Jamie,

    Is this still an issue?

Hi Keiron so yes and no.

Depends how you connect. The skywatcher synscan method broke and hasn’t seemed to work a while back and not had time to investigate further. Skywatcher synscanlink method works so depends on connection method.

Happy to share more details as needed thx J

Not at all. The recent update fixed it. I tested it out a few weeks ago. Look for 7.6.6

    Excellent, Edward, good to know.

Jamie, et al, if anyone has a workflow that is supposed to work, that was broken, and you believe the issue is with SkySafari (from an update) please outline everything here in detail.  I will have developers review it.

    Thanks!
