I have just bought and downloaded SkySafari Pro 5 from the Google Play store to my new Android tablet (Samsung S2). The app seems ok except that when I point my tablet at the sky the screen is fixed and does not move as I scan the sky as it is supposed to do (it always ends up pointing to the northern sky!) I can move the screen manually by touch but it will not move automatically. The tablet is equipped with GPS and a gyroscope and the settings in the software are identical to those I have on my iPhone app (also SkySafari Pro 5) which works fine. It appears that the software is not accessing the tablet software correctly. It has found my location via the GPS but appears not to be interacting with the gyroscope. Is it a compatibility problem and is there anything I can do about it? I am interested in purchasing your SkyFi module to control my telescope via WiFi using the SkySafari software but am concerned that it may not work. I would be grateful if you can offer any help or solutions.

Chris Hi
You might try clicking the 'Compass' button on the main toolbar and see if that enables the gyroscope. Hope this helps!Chris

George Adornato I have the same problem as B Hunt3 I get no compass icon.I also tried to get the compass from the main tool bar and the compass feature is there but with a check in the box but the box is shaded with a check in it. I don't know what to do so maybe someone could help me out with my problem.....thank you

Bill Tschumy George,
Are you sure your device has a compass? We don't show a compass icon if Android tells us no compass is available.

George Adornato Yes, my tablet does have a gyro. In the apps main tools page it shows that the compass box has a check but the box is shaded with the check in it. For some reason my gyro is useless and that's ONE of the main reasons why I downloaded skysafari 5 pro, to be able to see the real time sky no matter where I point my tablet. I've tried everything. I even uninstalled the app a few times and reinstalled it with the same results. No gyro. As I said, even though I love skysafari 5 pro, I find it useless due to my problem. Is a refund possible ?
Thank you

Bill Tschumy The Gyro is different from a Compass.
You can ask Android for a refund if you just bought the app. If you are past the point where they can give a refund, we can probably help.

George Adornato I went to where I purchased the app ( google play ) and I was told that they ( Google Play again ) do not give refunds for this app.I have to write to the developer and guess who that is?......simulationcurriculum...lol I guess Google Play is playing the NOT MY FAULT game. Does this mean all is lost?

Bill Tschumy No, all is not lost. Send me an email with your the email address you use on Google Play (I need it to look up your order). I can issue a refund. Send it to bill@simcur.com.
